For small scale investments Liquid Brick, Inc focuses on what we call "CLPs" (Customized Limited Partnerships), an acronym coined in 2006 to define and clarify nebulous and seemingly neglected opportunities in the equity market which exist in-between traditional “50/50” equity partnerships on one end and purely debt instruments on the other. “CLP” type of investments are uniquely different than debt structures (mortgages, notes, hard money financing, etc) because they are all equity based, however they are for a limited period of time and largely benefit the Entrepreneur (our Partner) in overcoming challenges with our unique style which enable us to generate referrals and create long lasting relationships very easily. Neither they nor we wish to be enjoined together for the long haul – they have short term needs/objectives and we have the immediate resources, skills, talent pool & capital to fulfill those needs. It is invaluable that entrepreneurs, investors, developers and other capital seekers familiarize themselves with our approach to this niche market as thoroughly as possible. We make deals happen with CLP's that otherwise would rarely (or painfully) get done in a traditional capital market in this deal size range. CLPs are partnerships - Custom, and Limited Partnerships. They are tailored to each entrepreneur's needs and hence the qualifier "Customized". Essentially, we are the entrepreneur’s entrepreneur.
We evaluate a business or real estate investment opportunity thoroughly - think of us as a small-scale Venture Capitalist. Where a boutique VC firm may invest many millions of dollars and several years in a business model, Liquid Brick, Inc. can make investments as low as $50,000 and for as short as 90 days or as high as $1,000,000 for a period not exceeding two years.
Most fascinating to our approach is our ability to minimize inasmuch as possible our equity interest in a deal by examining, identifying and structuring both debt and equity mechanism options in order to reduce our investment stake in a deal thereby permitting maximum equity control by the original entrepreneur and delivering maximum value. Having extensive knowledge of both debt and equity instruments as well as entrepreneurial competencies in numerous industries enables us to solve problems and create unique solutions for qualified and deserving entrepreneurs. |
Liquid Brick, Inc. typically invests in an opportunity when one or more of the following scenarios are present:
- An entrepreneur is seeking capital or needs a capital infusion and can't or prefers not to work with institutional, subprime or even hard money or private banking sources.
- An entrepreneur requires additional entrepreneurial expertise thoroughly familiar with the concatenation of cogwheels within and external to a going concern, and the systemization and harmonious coordination of each in order to generate profits, not problems.
- Collateralized workout, turnaround or asset-based bankruptcy buy-outs with divestiture objectives.
- Temporary Management, Executive or Partnership infusion(s) or replacements.
- Wholesale asset or inventory acquisition and liquidation.
Liquid Brick, Inc. only invests where we can bring real value to entrepreneurs and their customers/client base. We aim to solve a problem (or a multitude of problems) or fill a need from a short period of time ranging from three months and usually up to one year (occasionally ranging from eighteen to twenty four months). Liquid Brick, Inc. puts its extensive resources and capital to work as a "Limited" Partner to help an entrepreneur solve a problem, overcome an obstacle or get to the next level. Each deal is "tailored" to a specific entrepreneur's need. Any capital invested is ALWAYS collateralized and we only look at a full and complete package before beginning our due diligence. Collateral is not limited to real estate only and can include art, intellectual property rights (as with established music brands), precious stones or metals and other non-perishable inventory or assets which can be liquidated (with the exception of barreled or bottled fine wine which we will, in fact, consider). We look for investments where our time, intelligence and resources will be utilized in tandem with our capital which yield a minimum of a 25% return (on the low end) for a three month investment or as much as a 200% return (on the high end) for a one year investment and various ROIs in between such as a 50% ROI in six months or 100% ROI in twelve months - again each deal is customized to the Entrepreneur depending on the needs and our solutions, contributions or value added services.
